Parents, workshop sponsors and mentors also attended activities, which included a tour of the Florida Museum of Natural History, a reception and dinner. Five
students remained, following the workshops, to attend the week-long
University of Florida Summer Journalism Institute beginning June
22.

The
Summer Journalism Visitation Program, sponsored by Role Models Foundation,
The Knight Center at the University of Florida College of Journalism
and Communications, Ocala Star-Banner, and Florida Region 9 Education-to-Careers
Consortium, offered intensive career preparation, mentoring, and
networking activities to approximately 40 aspiring journalists,
ranging from elementary through high school levels, from all regions
of Florida.
