How you can help

In the wake of a disaster like hurricane Katrina, we all feel the need to help our fellow man. President Bush has urged citizens to donate funds to the American Red Cross and other organizations to help those affected. Listed below is just a sample of the organizations out there that will gladly accept your donations. If money isn’t an option for you, there are other ways to give.
OTHER WAYS TO HELP
- Donate blood to your local blood bank
- Research what your community or school is doing to help
- Start your own collection in your community or at your school
(At your school, if each student gave up one 20 oz soda a week and instead donated that dollar, you could collect several dollars from each student by month’s end. Each dollar is equivalent to more than a gallon of water.)
- Help evacuees that have been relocated to your community or school. (Student evacuees may need school supplies and clothes. Younger children would also appreciate coloring books, puzzles, and games.)
