Updates from Our Ambassadors
From
Miranda Lewis, University of Florida
Hi, I know you haven't heard
from me in a long time. I just want to get back in touch with
you and the rest of the staff. I wanted to know how everyone
was doing. I am fine and I am at the University of Florida.
I am currently majoring in health science pre-physical therapy,
eventually for the doctoral program although it may change back
to medicine. I'm not quite sure. Anyway, I graduated salutatorian
of my high school class, and I also graduated with my A.A. degree
from Tallahassee Community College. Well, that's pretty much
what has been going on with me.
From
Candace Mitchell, Columbia University
I interned this summer at the National Journal, a political
magazine in Washington, D.C. At first, it was quite a
challenge adjusting to a new city, and for my first week I didn't
really have an assignment. So of course, I was nervous about
the whole experience. But as the weeks passed, I discovered
that D.C. is an interesting and beautiful place to live and
work. I'm glad I got the opportunity to see that for myself.
I am learning quite a bit just being in the newsroom, and I
appreciate that.
Keep me informed
about the Summer Journalism Visitation Program.
From
Laureen Ricks, University of Florida
I
am doing well. I am in graduate school at the University
of Florida in documentary film studies. How did the summer
program go? It was weird not to be there; I think that was my
first absence in seven years. Anyway, I hope all is well for
you.
From
Coral Sanders, University of West Florida
I'm
attending the University of West Florida, and I'm majoring in
business management. I'm actually excited. I'm paying
for everything up front, and my job at the bank reimburses me.
I love my job. As long as I'm in school, I will continue to
stay working there until they fire me! They do have really good
programs, though. One of the ones they have is a $5,000 loan
for buying a house. If I work there for the next five years,
I don't have to pay it back. So you can tell, my plan
is to stay for a good little while. I wouldn't mind retiring
in banking one day. I really do enjoy what I do. I just want
to be strictly administrative in the end. My parents say hello.
From
Mark Smith, University of North Florida
I
am in my third year at the University of North Florida and am
still doing a double major in political science and history.
I am a student leader in the UNF Baptist Collegiate Ministries
and am also working as the director of governmental affairs
for the student body president. As you can see, I keep pretty
busy.
I hope that
everything is going well and that Role Models continues to prosper.
See you soon!
